Position Purpose:
The community liaison administrator will build capacity by facilitating a community of practitioners working with historically underserved communities to develop best practices, identify challenges, provide professional development to K-12 staff, and make recommendations to regional K-12 systems to improve engagement with communities who are under-served.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is subject to board policies, administrative rules and procedures, department regulations and applicable State and Federal statutes. This position carries specific administrative authority to affect the responsibilities of this job description. All commitments outside of authorized programs and services are subject to prior approval by the supervisor of this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate an advisory group of practitioners from component districts who work with communities who have been historically marginalized.
- Provide leadership to MESD schools in the development of participatory, student and family decision-making committees
- Communicate and model best practices for engaging student and family voice in decision-making
- Assess all processes with a lens on equity
- Develop and facilitate regional advisory council of practitioners to identify, share and replicate effective strategies for improving family engagement. Collaborate with MESD program staff to meet community engagement goals
- Working with advisory, create recommendations for district leadership
- Co-develop professional development opportunities in community engagement with component district advisory and MESD instructional services for classified and licensed employees
- Liaison with CBOs (community based organizations), tribes, businesses for districts, and ODE
- Identify and help scale best practices for family and community engagement
- Develop PD around school-family partnerships and community engagement
- Collect and analyze data with an equity lens to support program effectiveness
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Attend department, agency and regional meetings
- Attend supervisory meetings as scheduled
- Maintain records and write reports
- Serve in a resource capacity to all program stakeholders and component districts
- Perform other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Administrator works primarily within an office setting. Regular travel within and outside the District will be required with occasional statewide and rare out-of-state travel. Attendance at meetings is required. Activities outside of the normal workday may also be required based on project scope or deadlines. Although rare, evenings and weekends may also be required based on project scope or deadlines. MESD supports remote working when the job duties and responsibilities allow, with prior supervisor approval.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or combination of skills and experience. Minimum of five years - working in community engagement or related field. Demonstrated successful experience working with diverse communities in Portland metro area.
